Hello! I am the 7th Grade Science teacher at Atlantic Middle School. My wife and I have been in Atlantic for a few years and we love it! My wife, Montana, teaches at Washington Elementary. Our two daughters, Ella and Emmy, keep us pretty busy!
I am a former college bowler, so I like to do a lot of bowling in my free time. I also enjoy being out on the golf course.

Hello!
My name is Michelle Fritz, and I am a middle school special education teacher. I live in Avoca, Iowa with my husband and two sons. This is my first year in the school district, and I am looking forwards to meeting all of the students, parents, and community members. My favorite thing about teaching is watching the students' confidence grow when they learn something new. It is amazing how many different and challenging things students can learn that they never believed they could learn; simply because they mastered one concept. The power of the mind is incredible, and it is my job to help students develop positive thoughts about themselves. I believe that every student can learn and be challenged and that every student matters! I can't wait to learn and grow along with the students this year!

I then went to Iowa Western Community College and graduated in 2013 with a degree in Early Childhood Studies. Hello! My name is Vanessa Perkins and I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2013 with a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and a Literacy Education minor. I started working for AMS in 2012. I am an ACSD Alumni and am very excited to be working for the Atlantic school district as a staff member.
I graduated from Dartmouth College in 2005 with a B.A. in Psychology and Education. I then served as an officer in the Army for four years. I spent most of military career at Fort Lewis, WA, and did one year-long tour of duty in Afghanistan. I decided to leave the military to pursue a career in education in 2009. I received a Master's in Education from Franklin Pierce University, and while working towards my Master's, worked as a paraprofessional. This is my eighth year working as a special educator. I truly enjoy working with my students and watching them grow and learn!

Mrs. Cheryl Thompson is in her fifteenth year teaching vocal music for the Atlantic Community School district. Her duties at Schuler Elementary include 4th and 5th grade General Music classes. At the Middle School, Mrs. Thompson teaches 6th grade choir, 7th grade choir and 8th grade choir and Show Choir. She is also directs the annual 7th grade Musical, Honor Choirs and Festvals for her students. Ukulele classes are offered to the Middle School and in 5th grade general music class.

Shortly after graduating, I received my master's from UNI in Instructional Technology. I am starting my 8th year of teaching and look forward to building relationships with the students and families of AMS.
