Superintendant Spotlight!

We are pleased to announce an improvement in student attendance for students attending Schuler Elementary and the Middle School, highlighting the district's ongoing commitment to academic success. The Washington Elementary and High School attendance rates are beginning to improve from last year. The rise in attendance has been attributed to a combination of new initiatives designed to encourage regular school attendance and ensure a smooth transition for students returning from doctor's appointments during the school day.

The district's increased focus on attendance also involves a proactive monitoring system, which alerts families early when attendance patterns indicate a student may be struggling to attend regularly. This early intervention has led to more consistent attendance and support for students who face barriers, such as health concerns or transportation issues.

These efforts are already showing results. Attendance rates have risen across the district, with fewer full-day absences and more students returning to school after leaving for appointments. Understanding that appointments are sometimes unavoidable, the district has implemented several strategies to ensure students can quickly and seamlessly rejoin their classes without missing key lessons. We are encouraging families to make appointments that will only use a portion of their kids’ school day.

As a CommUNITY, we are emphasizing that every day students spend in the classroom matters, and the district is committed to supporting students in attending school as often as possible. Our goal is to make sure every student has the opportunity to be in school, learning, and growing.
